An au pair is generally a young, single person from overseas who is interested in coming to Australia to learn English and lives as a member of an Australian family. Usually they work 30 to 35 hours per week with weekends off. Please note they are not trained nannies and may have little or no training. They may stay with a family for the full 12 months but many do wish to also travel whilst they are in Australia so the time that they can commit may vary.
